Celades: "We showed a lot of ambition after the equaliser and wanted to win the game"
Albert Celades spoke in the press room at the Wanda Metropolitano after Valencia CF's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid, praising his side for their reaction and will to win.
The result
"It's a very important draw, because coming here, to this ground, with the players the opposition have and the few goals they concede, our reaction in the second half deserves a lot of credit. The team reacted brilliantly, especially in the second half. We showed a lot of ambition after the equaliser and wanted to win the game."
The game
"We began the game with 10 or 15 good minutes, but it isn't easy to play here. We came out with ambition, but then we found things more difficult, Atletico Madrid had chances and we went into halftime at a disadvantage. After that, we changed some things around, but the credit should go to the players. The chalkboards and videos show the tactics, but what I'll take away from this game is the personality and ambition that the team had to equalise and then go for the win."
Dani Parejo
"It's a luxury to have a player like him. He always wants the ball, he takes responsibility, and when he has the ball at his feet things always happen. He never hides, which I love. He's spent so many years at the club, and it's a delight to have him on the team. He didn't just score a great goal; the most important thing about Dani is what he means for the team."
A good run in the league
"Results always back up what you want and what you do, and we're on that path. It's a way of continuing to move forward. The team are working very well, with fantastic dedication. Today they showed that personality against great opposition, at a great stadium, but we have to insist on things that will make us better."
Rotations
"Important players have come in, who are going to help us to have more options and be a better side. Kondogbia played from the start, and Carlos Soler and Gameiro came on in the second half. We're happy that they are back, because they are going to make us more competitive."
